Copper has set a sales mark of half a million vehicles a year as of mid-term
The Volkswagen Group aims to manufacture three million electric cars in two Spanish factories located in Martorell and Landaben until 2030, according to the president of the headquarters Wayne Griffiths. This project will be through the construction of a battery assembly plant and a second Martorelli vehicle platform with the aim of increasing participation in the electric vehicle value chain and remaining competitive in the long term.
On the occasion of the presentation of the last year’s event, Griffithius refers to the seat of the transformation from combustion to electrification, which proceeds at a rapid pace and lays the foundations for a new chapter of growth in the company’s history. “We are at the beginning of a crucial year in the history of SEDIS -said the president-. We know that the future will be electric and we have a clear vision and a motivated and determined team to make this transition. He added that if the Martorell plant was built 30 years ago to create a new era of growth for the brand, “now we are in the second era: the next great milestone in the history of this society”.
The Volkswagen Group, the owner of the seat brand, is investing a total of 3,000 million euros in electrification. Martorell will become one of the electric vehicle production centers of the Volkswagen group and a key part of the electric vehicle value chain in Spain. In addition, Sella will lead the Volkswagen group’s development of the small BEV, a family of cars that will facilitate electric mobility at more affordable prices. In 2025, Martorell will start the production of electric vehicles for different brands of the German group.
One of the main pillars of this plan will be the development of the “Circular Economy Hub” which allows society to take advantage of all the value offered by the car and the battery through industrial reuse, remanufacturing and recycling projects. It also provides a sustainable energy plan for the production center in Barcelona, where the center will be located.
On the other hand, the Cupra brand, from the headquarters of the group, wants to be one of the hundred best global brands in 2030. To achieve this goal, he researches the brand globalization. This year he plans to open new stores in Berlin, Madrid, Manchester and Paris, in addition to studying his entry into North America. Copper is preparing a serious work that will start in 2024 with the launch of the Tavascan and Terramar models, from UrbanRebel in 2025. These new models will allow the brand to enter new segments and markets and achieve its medium term. sell half a million cars a year.
