The Votive Flame shines again in the new edition of the Provincial Immigrant Festival

This afternoon, the traditional Posta and the Lighting of the Votive Flame took place as part of the 46th Provincial Immigrant Festival, an event that began as usual, at the headquarters of the Hellenic and Plato Collective, where the traditional dance commemorating the initiation at the Olympic Games in Athens.
The event was led by the mayor of Berisso, Fabián Cagliardi and the president of the Association of Foreign Entities (AEE), Julián Desimone. Also present are the Provincial Cultural Ambassadors of Immigrants, Giuliana Nizzo; the vice ambassadors, Guadalupe Woollands Jones and Jazmín Yamuni; the Immigrant Cultural Ambassador, Emanuel Giacoia; the Secretary of the Government, Aldana Iovanovich; the Secretary of Health, Santiago Ramírez Borga; the undersecretary of Community Relations, Juan Pablo Holubyez and the president of the host community, Jorge Colovos; together with municipal, community and AEE authorities

The ceremony began with the singing of the National Anthem and the Berisso Anthem, performed by Julio Sobota. Then, the representative of the Greek community, Guillermina Hasan Gutzos, welcomed and reviewed the history of lighting the Olympic torch and its meaning within the framework of the Provincial Immigrant Festival.

The torch was carried from the Hellenic and Plato Collective by the young members of the communities, who toured the different headquarters and points where the communities are located. The circuit ended by lighting the votive lamp at the Immigrant Monument, located in the Civic Park, by Marcela Georgieff, Immigrant Queen in 1983, to commemorate 40 years of the return of democracy.

Regarding this event, the mayor of Berisso, Fabián Cagliardi, said: “Personally, this event is very special, every flame that is lit reminds us of everything that our grandparents did and everything that immigrants built in this town.”.

“Today we are united by the love passed on by our immigrants and we continue to pass it on from generation to generation, and now together we continue to build this city as they did, helping each other,” concluded Cagliardi.

Meanwhile, the president of the Association of Foreign Entities of Berisso (AEE), Julián Desimone, stated: “For us it is a very special afternoon, it is one of the most emotional events that the party has, like the start of the lights. of the torch, so from the Association we thank the Greek Community for opening its doors to us once again.
