Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, was considered the most popular artist in the world. The Canadian was able to reach a figure of 111 million listeners per month and this was a milestone that allowed him to achieve two Guinness records.
He managed to break the Canadian record for the most monthly listeners on Spotify with 111.4 million, and also became the first artist to reach 100 million monthly listeners on that platform.
It is worth noting that a lot of this happened in the week of the remix of the song “Die For You” with Ariana Grande, which went viral on TikTok.

The Weeknd: these excellent collaborations
Weeks and Ariana Grande have shown that they have an infallible formula, since Die Nam is not their only collaboration that has topped the world charts. Love Me Harder, Off the Record and Save Your Tears Remix are other examples of excellent musical chemistry between the two artists.
However, despite the immense success The Weeknd and Guinness Records have achieved, other artists are struggling to catch up with him in popularity. Miley Cyrus is second with 82.4 million monthly listeners, followed by Shakira with 81.6 million, Ariana Grande with 80.6 million, Taylor Swift with 80.2 million and Rihanna with 78.5 million, according to the official world record portal.

Weeks was born in Toronto in 1990 and began his musical career in 2010, posting songs on YouTube and focusing on the Anglo-Saxon world. His collaboration with the rapper Drake allowed him to catapult himself and start a career full of success and honor.
In addition to the aforementioned Guinness Records, Abel Tesfaye has achieved other records, such as having the third album with the most 1s, after Beauty After Fury (2015) and Starboy (2016). It also holds the record for the most streamed song on Spotify, with 3.8 billion streams to Blinding Lights from the album hours later, surpassing Ed Sheeran’s The Shape of You.
