An episode revealing the health crisis in Colombia was announced by the Superintendent Late Beltran, meeting this Thursday with users of EPS who have affiliates in this section of the country.
In that event, he assured that the crisis is that even the former president of the Constitutional Court, the former magistrate. Jorge Ivan Palacios, who at that time was The Statutory Health Law, 1751 of 2015, is a victim of this collapse.
He described it as a “Irony of life” that a protagonist of the legal framework, which defines the right to health, is now a victim of the system in which it seeks to guarantee health services to Colombians.
This Thursday when he traveled to Barranquilla, Ulahí Beltrán told the audience, “The one that at that time the president of the Constitutional Court (Magistrate Jorge Iván Palacios) called me. That high court of justice that ensures the integrity of the rights of Colombia. The one president at that time to authorize the Statutory Law to help he is in EPS because the wife is not authorized to be hospitalized at the Reina Sofía Clinic in Bogotá”.
He said that Judge Palacios, who “The man who decided that health benefits exist as basic in Colombia should turn to the Superintendency so that his wife can be given the health care she deserves. By a former magistrate of the Republic.”
Immediately, the Superintendent was asked: “What can be expected for the average citizen?”
“That’s why I made some clarifications against those who argue that we have the best health services in the world and argue that there is support in surveys of no more than a thousand people across the country.”
Beltrán stated that he does not believe in surveys because there are 4,000 people per day “who called the Superintendency asking for help to save their lives, because with the EPS, they did not receive care.”
According to the Superintendency, last year 1,600,000 displays of disagreement were received. Of that number, 35 percent are life or death cases.
