Universidad de Chile has practically closed its transfer market, which will surely disappoint Diego Rivarola. The reason? Blue Reference, currently a sports commentator, called for more reinforcements for Gustavo Álvarez’s team. The Argentinian born requires a creative name in midfield.
In conversation with Radio Cooperativa, the former football player mentioned the preseason at the University of Chile. Despite approving of the game model demonstrated by the team, he questioned the lack of surprise in the offensive zone. Therefore, for Rivarola, someone capable of breaking the model from three quarters of the court should be hired.
“My balance is positive. For the U, entering the Cup or fighting in a tournament should be a goal, now the reality of recent years tells us that it is better to wait and see first how the team works. One of the interesting things I’ve seen in decision making is that the team tries to be the hero from the beginning. “This seems like the most positive thing to me,” he began by indicating.
“I think the team is missing a player higher up from midfield who makes more of a difference, who brings something to the individual game. He added, “I think there’s a variant missing at the upper level, I feel like.”
However, Diego Rivarola did not say anything important: the team’s most important players in that area were not in the preseason. Called to fight for the position of creative midfielder, Lucas Assadi and Jason Fuentealba both attended training just this Tuesday, February 6.
U.S. transfer market
Although Diego Rivarola intends to add another name to the attack of the Universidad de Chile, the approach is complicated. In the absence of Gustavo Álvarez, who evaluated the above mentioned midfielders, as well as Federico Mateos who returned from his injury, the main uncertainty of the coaching staff is placed on the last line, the rearguard.
In this area, the U only have Matias Zaldivia, Franco Calderón and Ignacio Tapia, with the fourth center back being young David Retamal (20). For this reason, they will ultimately wait until the last moment to sign another name to that position. Nicolas Ramirez was ruled out, but the defender is awaiting offers from abroad to continue his career.
With this panorama, the Universidad de Chile is preparing for the debut against Cobresal. The first date of the First Division tournament will be played on Sunday, February 18 from 6:00 pm at the National Stadium.
