We provide you with a list of the most notable films released this year. In addition, we will inform you about how to enjoy these feature films from the comfort of your home in case you missed the opportunity to enjoy them on the big screen. We will also inform you about the exciting films coming to cinemas in the near future so that you can look forward to the cinematic experiences to come.
1. Babylon
Directed by filmmaker Damien Chazelle, “BABYLON” is set in 1920s Los Angeles. This film is led by an all-star cast that includes Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Diego Calva, as well as a stellar ensemble cast with characters like Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li and Jean Smart standing out. The film tells a story of unbridled ambition and uncontrollable excess, examining the development of several characters amid an era of overwhelming decadence and depravity, in the early days of the cinematic mecca of Hollywood. You can enjoy it on Paramount Plus or rent it on Amazon Prime.
2. The Fabelmans
Michelle Williams and Paul Dano star in this cinematic ode directed by Steven Spielberg, which combines autobiographical elements to explore the foundations of his passion for cinema. The plot deals with a family secret, peppered with discreet homages to his own professional career, making this film a strong contender for the Oscars. You can rent it on YouTube or Amazon Prime.
3. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
There is considerable debate about whether the unenthusiastic reception of Quantumania could in some way signal the beginning of a decline for the Marvel cinematic universe. In our case, however, we really liked the film: its sense of humor, its adventurous approach, its nods to classic science fiction and the outstanding introduction of MODOK, one of the best villains Marvel has introduced to date. We found all of these elements to be excellent and a breath of fresh air compared to the often over-the-top gravity found in the studio’s other films. Sometimes simplicity fills us with satisfaction. You can enjoy it on Disney+
4. Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse
The sequel to “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” faced the great challenge of reaching the level of quality of what could be considered the best superhero film of recent years. It maintains the bold aesthetic commitment of its predecessor while adding a wealth of multiversal elements that may once again make it the most exciting and intelligent superhero film of the year. You can rent it or compare it on Amazon Prime
Movies you can enjoy on the big screen:
1. Great tourism
The adaptation of “Gran Turismo” aims to consolidate the commercial potential of Playstation Productions, the Sony division that specializes in bringing games from its console to the cinema, which has so far been achieved with films such as “The Last of Us” and “The Last of Us” achieved notable successes “Unexplored”. Neill Blomkamp, known for directing films such as “District 9” and “Elysium”, is responsible for telling this story, which is inspired by a real event: the life of a driver who emerged from the GT Academy is, similar to the case of the Spanish rider Lucas Ordoñez, Jann Mardenborough.
2. Willy Wonka
It is a prequel to the famous 1964 children’s novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl. The film explores the youth and origins of Willy Wonka before he became the owner of the chocolate factory, focusing on his encounter with the Oompa – Loompas during one of his first adventures. Director Paul King has mentioned that his approach is not to tell the same story again, but to take inspiration from the 1971 version and serve as a prequel to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
3. The Moon Killers
Martin Scorsese’s highly anticipated film features a stellar cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio and examines the tumultuous discovery of oil in the 1920s Oklahoma region on the land of the Osage Nation. While trying to extract oil, local residents fall victim to a series of murders before the FBI intervenes in the investigation. It is an intense drama that, as discussed at Cannes, seems to be directed by a Scorsese who displays a more reserved and classic style than usual.
4. The Nun 2
In France in 1956, a priest is murdered, triggering the spread of an evil presence. The sequel to the globally successful film “The Nun” follows Sister Irene in her confrontation with the demonic being Valak, also known as “The Demon Nun”.
