Ukraine partially persuaded the Russians to retreat, but the war continues. Why Ukrainians continue to expect tank deliveries mainly from Germany – with little chance of success.

In the last few days, the Ukrainian army has got success one after the other. Retaliation against Russia was planned for months. In this way, Ukraine was able to recapture many areas in the North-East. Kyiv emphasizes that these successes are mainly due to the support of the West. The Hymer rocket launchers delivered from the US and the Gepard tanks from Germany proved particularly effective. It is clear: further deliveries are necessary. In Ukraine, the German Leopard 2 battle tank and Marder infantry fighting vehicle are viewed with hope, writes “Welt”.

In early July, Germany delivered 30 Gepard tanks to Ukraine on the instructions of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (64). The purpose of the cheetahs was to protect the infrastructure. During the counter-offensive in Kharkov, defense systems could be used to keep the Russian Air Force under control. For the chance against Russia to continue, more must be delivered. Dimitro Kuleba (41) in a meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock (41) made a candid statement: “The more weapons we get, the faster we win.”
