They Are Celebrating The 25Th Anniversary Of The Acero Laminado Celaya Company

The governor of the state, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, attended the event celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Celaya Lamination Company of the DEACERO Group.

It is a premier, 100 percent Mexican steel company and manufacturer of steel products.

65 percent of the total production comes from the Celaya plant, which corresponds to a production of 210,000 to 220,000 tons of steel per month.

“It is an honor for me to share this 25th anniversary celebration with all the directors and employees of DEACERO. It makes me proud that it is a first-class Mexican company that is creating success stories in our country and directly in our state,” said Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo.

The Guanajuato plant directly employs 940 people and creates around 700 indirect jobs. In addition, it is equipped with scrap collection and processing infrastructure, steel mills, finished product manufacturing facilities and distribution centers.

It is located in an industrial complex of the same DEACERO group, which includes DEACERO Wire Plant, DEACERO SUMMIT and DEACERO Macrohub, among others.

DEACERO has its origins in the vision of Don César Gutiérrez, together with Doña Virginia Muguerza, to create a wire-based company in Monterrey, Nuevo León around 1952.

Currently, the company serves various industries and steel markets with a presence in Mexico and more than 20 countries in the Americas and Europe, including the United States, Canada, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Today DEACERO is the world leader in wire production; Market leader in Mexico in the production of long steel and reinforcing steel. It is also the largest recycler in Mexico.

The company employs 11,000 people, more than 7,500 distributors and more than 20 plants (3 steel mills and 14 wire mills); 30 distribution centers in North America.

The company has a production capacity of more than 1.4 million tons of wire and more than 4.5 million tons of steel per year.

The company has 20 recycling centers where it recycles 4 million tons of steel, almost 97% of its raw materials for production, every year.

In 1998, DEACERO’s second steel plant began operations in the Guanajuato area.

“The growth of Guanajuato cannot be understood without the growth of this DEACERO plant, and the most important thing about Guanajuato is its people, good, hard-working people with the hunger to grow and improve.” And a company like DEACERO, which is about Having the human quality of understanding that the most valuable asset is its people has ensured a great future,” the governor said.

Over the next three years, Grupo DEACERO will invest $1 billion in the construction of a new steel mill and acquire machinery and equipment to strengthen operations at its plants in Saltillo, Coahuila and Celaya.

Ramón Alfaro Gómez, Minister of Sustainable Economic Development, was present at this ceremony; Raúl Gutiérrez Muguerza, President of the Board of Directors of the DEACERO Group; Raúl Gutiérrez Durán, General Manager of Cable and Operational Services; Manuel Flores, director of the Celaya plant; and Aurelio Góngora Garza, steel mill operations manager.

Also present were Javier Mendoza Márquez, mayor of Celaya and Juan Lara Mendoza, mayor of Villagrán.
