they are going to modernize 20 thousand luminaires

Looking to 2023, the municipality of Torreón will seek the modernization of 20,000 public lighting luminaires as well as the renewal of parking meters, the construction of the Independencia-Villa Florida road system and intelligent traffic lights among the main projects for next year.

Mayor Roman Alberto Cepeda González pointed out that there are about 20,000 lamps that are not part of the Torreon Public Lighting Concessionaire (CAPT), about half of which are sodium vapor, yellow lights, so that the priority is to modernize them in 2023 .

“They have to update now, they cost us a little over a million pesos a month, this will cover the cost of updating it but we have to do a good project, they are not in the previous contract, but this is an issue With the growth that Torreón has, with the new industrial areas, with the neighborhoods, we’re looking at options to see what’s most convenient for Torreón,” he commented.

Once these sodium vapor luminaires are converted to LEDs, savings are anticipated in bills paid by the City Council to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).

These non-saving technology luminaries are located on the periphery, mainly in commons, such as El Pacifico, La Partida, El Peru, La Paz, La Palma, 12 de Deciembre, although also in neighborhoods such as Zaragoza Sur, Valle la Rosita, Santa Sofia, Vila Centenario, according to the Public Services Sector.

Another urban reform action anticipated in the government’s second year is the renewal of parking meters, which, according to the Treasury’s proposal, will be accompanied by a digital scheme of collection and cover up to another square of the city. It will be a platform managed by the municipality, without concession for individuals, rather it is a virtual platform, a service provided by a provider.

There will be devices on public roads and it is demanded that parking meters can be paid for with a mobile phone or at a convenience store. There is a register of 2,800 parking meters in existence, of which 400 are functional.

Regarding the construction of the Independencia-Villa Florida road system, announced by Mayor Roman Alberto Cepeda González in his first government report, it will be developed in three phases during 2023 and will cost approximately 240 million pesos. The first phase will start in January and will be in charge of the municipality.

This will be a comprehensive modification of several road crossings located at the foot of the Villa Florida bridge, at the confluence of La Nogalera Boulevard with the Raúl López Sánchez Peripheral, where the traffic light system will be eliminated in order to generate continuous vehicle traffic.
