The Roche Institute Foundation, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary group of experts, has promoted the preparation of the report “The Future of Health and Precision Private Medicine”, in which it is organized what the future of the health mission should be able to perform effectively. Implementation of Precision Medicine.
“Personal precision medicine is and will be one of the main elements of the transformed system, so it is necessary to continue the work in its implementation to achieve cutting edge medicine that guarantees the health and well-being of society in general and patients in particular”, Vice President of the Roche Institute Foundation explained Federico Plaza.
Specifically, the mission of the proposed multidisciplinary working group is based on the model of health care, research and innovation, and the acquisition of training and expertise, in which the participation of health professionals and citizens will take a central place. Likewise, it will be supported by three fundamental elements, such as digital transformation, an ethical-legal framework and health policies that will contribute to the sustainability of the system.
Future health care will leave behind the current model based on levels of care to move to organize a matrix of all the agents involved in the system. “When we talk about the “matrix organization” we mean all the workers who are connected to each other (health professionals, users and social services), unlike the limited real connection that currently exists with the organization at the levels of care”, the coordinator has. report and president of the Spanish Association of Human Genetics, Encarna Guillén.
Specifically, according to the work, the health care model will be established in three areas of activity: “Without Unique Health Areas”, which will have points and Primary Health Care Spaces to promote, maintain or restore people’s health and where preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic or rehabilitative activities will be carried out; “Ubiquitous Health”, for the provision of health in any place outside the Single Health Space, adapting to the needs of users; and ‘Precision Public Health’, as an area of disease prevention, health promotion and the reduction of differences in the health of the population.
In these areas, the availability of information and holistic characterizations of people and pathologies allows for a better prediction and prevention of diseases, as they are integrated in the “Integral History of Health”, so as a repository for all the information that reflects the biopsychosocial. the truth of the person and as a platform for interaction between professionals and between these and users.
Similarly, in the future, a multidisciplinary and networked research model will be solidified, based on collaboration between health professionals and researchers, synergies between public and private institutions, and promoting the participation and integration of the patients’ vision. In addition, research activity will be recognized as part of the functions of health care providers.
The proposed mission method contemplates the establishment of policies for the well-being of health professionals, and the implementation of a new training model for both professionals and users of the health system.
“In the future, in general, the patient roles of Health Advisor, Health Councils, Research Commissioners and Boards of Editors of scientific journals, among other collegiate bodies, encourage their active participation and the incorporation of a vision of their health decisions; promoting the development of civil science”, Guillén had explained.
Finally, experts have ensured that the citizens of the university have access to all the services, tests and procedures necessary for diagnosis and treatment, regardless of who they are.
