Three opposition mayors in Tachira state are targets of the National Assembly. Several national media reported that Deputy William Camacho asked the legislative body’s controlling commission to launch an investigation against local politicians for alleged acts of corruption.
Camacho indicated that those in violation of the law included Jackson Carrillo from the municipality of Junín, the mayor of San Judas Tadeo municipality, Salvador Pérez, and the mayor of Capacho Viejo municipality, Cliver Becerra, “We are receiving 100% of the complaints. People.”
He added that if the facts of corruption are proved, “the Venezuelan State through the Public Ministry will enforce the relevant crimes in accordance with the laws.”
Once the request is approved by the plenary session of the Subcommittee for the Control of Public Expenditures and Funds of the Municipal Executive Power, it will go to the Comptroller’s Commission to initiate an investigation.
In Carrillo’s case, he is accused of allegedly receiving tax resources in dollars that he did not declare, reported Diario 2001, while Pérez is facing charges from the municipal comptroller’s office and Becerra’s wages and salaries for various irregularities. is under trial for non-payment of dues.
