They estimate that food intake has increased by 8% in the past four weeks

According to a private study, between the last week of April and the first three weeks of May, food prices maintained their rising momentum and registered an increase of 8%.

Work by LCG Consultancy showed the average growth over the period was 8.6%, which is 0.6 points lower than the “end to end” comparison.

In the study for the third week of May, food intake increased by 1.28%, down 2.3 points from the previous period.

It should be noted that due to the sampling design, this gain in food is still capturing the trigger that occurred in late April when the “blue” reached $500.

For this reason, there is a substantial difference with INDEC as the official sample has already included these increases and will not re-count them in its next report.

For the LCG so far in May, food has increased by 6.1% with just over a third of the month remaining.

Considering the last week of April to the third week of May, the item that increased the most was “ready-to-go meals” which varied 12.9%. In this case, it should be noted that in addition to raw materials, the adjustment affected public services.

Dairy and eggs is the second segment with the highest growth (10%), followed by meat (9.8%), vegetables (8.9%), spices (7.5%), beverages (6.6%), baked goods (6.1%) and Sugar 5.4%.

“The growth was concentrated in a smaller number of products, but they were more relevant than last week,” LCG said.

The survey was conducted on the prices of 8,000 food and drink items offered in five supermarkets that had cutoff on Wednesday.
