The Ministry of the Economy of the Nation has extended the call for economic projects to strengthen and stimulate the video game industry. Within the scope of the ‘Knowledge Economy’ programme.
With a funding of $10 million, participating companies, associations and universities have until March 27 to submit their proposals.
It should be noted that the national video game industry has more than 100 companies and employs more than 2,000 people. In addition, it gathers 100,000 students for a higher degree connected to the game industry.
According to the Argentine Video Game Industry Observatory, this subsector represented more than US$ 86 million in 2020. It accounts for 77% of exports, with the United States of America and Canada being the main markets.

In this line, the Secretary of Economic Science Ariel Sujarchuk highlighted the importance of this call for potential programs aimed at the video game industry. The objective is to generate new opportunities in the market, which moves in the world around US$ 180 billion every year.
“Argentina has great potential for growth due to the fact that it has a solid programming industry that supports it and the enormous creative potential of its people. That is why these programs of the national government are essential to promote a successful journey,” he said.

Approved projects will be able to access up to $10 million in Non-Reimbursable Contributions (ANR). In addition, projects that include a gender perspective, or that have a majority of women in management positions and work teams related to the project, will receive an additional benefit of $500,000.

The purpose of the call is to encourage codable and non-codable skills, as well as to stimulate the technology to produce video games.
It also aims to promote the national production of digital media and interactive entertainment programs, and to encourage the investment and development of technical and human resources specialized in the implementation of the activity of the knowledge economy.
