The cases of murder of women in Colombia are on the rise. So far in 2023, according to statistics from the National Police, 53 crimes of this type have been registered. This May 20 it was reported the discovery of a female body in a ravine in Antioquia.
Although this fact has not been confirmed as a femicide, it is believed, given the circumstances in which the body was found, to be a new case of murder against a woman for the simple fact of being a woman.
The official report from the authorities states that it is a 44-year-old woman and she suffered multiple stab wounds.
Description of the quest for a lifeless woman
Authorities have identified the woman found dead in a ravine in the village of La Chorrera in Santa Rosa de Osos, in northern Antioquia, as 44-year-old Luz Marie Ortega Aguirre.
The first indications of this crime suggest that it will be a femicide at the hands of the victim’s passionate partner.
The woman is revealed to have been a mother of four, which could add to the figure of 77 orphans in the country.
What they say about a possible feminism
The initial version of these facts points to a new case of feminism, to which the Antioquia Women’s Secretariat refuted this fact through its Twitter account:
We reject and deeply regret the alleged femicide of 44-year-old Marie Ortega Aguirre in the municipality of Santa Rosa de Osos, Antioquia. We express our condolences and solidarity to his family and loved ones.
The officers are currently continuing the investigation. The woman’s body was transferred from the rural area where it was found, to the Legal Medicine Headquarters in Medellín to perform the corresponding autopsy and find out the clues that may clarify this unfortunate fact.
