Lots of information
In the Southern Ocean, Australian scientists recorded a unique creature with an underwater camera, colloquially nicknamed the ‘chicken monster without a head’.
This was announced in a statement published on the website of the Australian Antarctic Division.
It is an exceptional species of sea cucumber, Enypniastes, which inhabits deep waters and was previously recorded only in the Gulf of Mexico during an expedition in 2017.
For this reason it is the first time that the creature has been seen in the Antarctic area.
According to the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Enypniastes super is found primarily in the sea floor and feeds on surface sediments.
On the other hand, if necessary, you can swim and move to other places.
The Australian Antarctic Division, which studies the waters of the Southern Ocean with special cameras, emphasizes the importance of its project, saying “some of the pictures we receive from the cameras are impressive, showing among other species that we have never seen. in this part of the world.”
