MEXICO CITY.- They require that public and private establishments that provide health services establish administrative procedures to protect, monitor, protect and care for users and workers
Senator Eli César Cervantes Rojas of Murray presented an initiative aimed at adopting a regulatory framework to create security conditions and risk control within the facilities of the country’s health institutions through the restriction of the entry of firearms.
To this end, the legislator wants public and private establishments providing health services to establish administrative procedures to protect, monitor, protect and care for users and workers.
To this end, it proposes to step up surveillance at entrances, prohibit the entry of weapons, enter through metal detectors and X-rays, install signage prohibiting weapons and prevent security risks. Other works considered necessary for this should be promoted.
This proposal, the petitioner said, would “contribute to creating an atmosphere of safety and disapproval of violence against health workers and doctors in particular, so that they do not have to risk their lives in their commendable job of taking care of us.” ,
Cervantes Rojas indicated that it is imperative to reduce the risks arising from the entry of people with firearms into various health centers, clinics and hospitals due to the lack of culture regarding compliance with safety regulations.
In this regard, he recalled that, in the recent past, there have been tragic incidents in which the integrity and lives of people living inside health facilities have been put at risk.
In the face of this increasing violence against healthcare workers, the senator said that prevention and control of occupational risk factors should be given priority in order to provide an adequate level of prevention and protection.
