Maruti WagonR has become the best selling car in the first 6 months of this year. Carmakers sold a total of 14,86,309 vehicles in the first 6 months of 2022, which is 17.51 percent higher than the number of vehicles sold in the first 6 months of 2021. Maruti Suzuki topped the list of top 10 best selling cars in the country with 7 models The Maruti WagonR hatchback emerged as India’s best-selling vehicle with 1,13,407 units sold, up 19.58 percent over the same period last year.
WagonR Price and Mileage
Maruti’s WagonR hatchback comes with 1.0L and 1.2L petrol engines. The WagonR is priced between Rs 5.47 lakh and Rs 7.20 lakh (all, ex-showroom). It returns a mileage of 34.05kmpl on CNG (1.0L) and 25.19kmpl on Petrol AGS (1.0L). Maruti Swift hatchback and Dzire compact sedan came second and third respectively. Swift sold 91,177 cars and Dzire sold 85,929 cars.
Tata Nexon
Tata’s Nexon sub-compact SUV stood at number four with sales of 82,770 units, compared to just 46,247 units sold in the first 6 months of 2021. Nexon grew 78.97 percent year-on-year. The Nexon is powered by a 110bhp, 1.5L diesel and 110bhp, 1.2L petrol engines mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Maruti Baleno
Maruti’s Baleno sold 74,892, Ertiga 68,922 and Alto 68,680 vehicles respectively at fifth, sixth and seventh positions. The Hyundai Creta stood at number eight with 67,421 units sold, slightly higher than in 2021 (138 units). The Tata Punch is the brand’s second best selling car in the first 6 months of this year. The company managed to sell 60,932 units of this mini SUV. Maruti Suzuki’s Eeco stood at number ten with sales of 60,705 units.
