This company made a splash in India, sold more than 5 crore bikes and scooters

Japanese automaker Honda has been selling its vehicles for decades in the Indian two-wheeler market. In the year 2001, the company made its first step in India with its Activa scooter and seeing Honda Activa has become the best selling scooter not only of the company but also of the country. Today the company has made another new record, the company claims that it has sold 50 million units of two wheelers in the Indian market so far.

In recent times, there has been a tremendous jump in the sales of Honda vehicles. The company says that it took almost 16 years to touch the initial sales figure of 25 million vehicles. But the company has sold the next 2.5 crore vehicles within just 5 years. It should also be noted that the company had announced a few months back that it has crossed the sales mark of 25 million units of the Activa scooter.

From this you can clearly guess the popularity of this scooter. Honda Activa alone accounts for about 50% of the company’s total sales. This is the first scooter in the country to touch the 2.5 crore mark. Currently, the 6th generation model of Honda Activa is being sold in India and in terms of sales, this scooter directly competes with the country’s largest selling two-wheeler Hero Splendor.

Honda two-wheelers have a strong vehicle portfolio in the Indian market. At present, the company is selling great products ranging from scooters and commuter bikes to heavy superbikes. Honda’s most popular models include the Activa, Honda Shine, Honda Grazia, Honda CB350, Honda CBR, Honda XBlade, Honda Unicorn and Honda Hornet. The company sells the vehicles through two different dealerships in India, namely Redwing and Bigwing.
