New Delhi: There has been a big change in IPL 2021. According to the information, the disputed soft signal has been removed from IPL 2021. In the recent match between India and England, a dispute regarding soft signal was revealed. After this, captain Virat Kohli also agreed to remove it.
In the BCCI meeting, it has now been decided that soft signal will have no place in the upcoming season of IPL. That is, the field umpire will not give any soft signal before referring to the third umpire. According to the ANI report, the BCCI has said that the field umpires will not give any soft signal before referring the third umpire.
The soft signal will not be applicable as per the updated playing conditions of IPL 2021. This decision has been taken so that the third umpire can take the decision with open thought without keeping the field umpire’s decision in mind.
In the fourth T20 match between India and England on March 18, a soft signal dispute came to light. After this, VVS Laxman had also opined to remove it.
Such an opportunity came when Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for the second ball of the 14th over. The breath of the Indian fans remained stuck during this, as even the third umpire could not take the decision about his catch for a long time. He was eventually dismissed as out. Hardik Pandya was also given out in a soft signal. After this, they too were declared out. After this, the question was raised how the field umpires could give such a distant opinion about the catch being caught on the boundary line.
What is a soft signal
Actually, the soft signal field is the decision given by the umpire. The umpire then prompts the third umpire to take a decision in the event of a confusion. In many cases the third umpire has also retained the soft signal.
