This new Avatr 12 comes from a partnership between Chinese giants Changan Huawei and CATL. It is a 100% electric sedan with truly characteristic design solutions and power of up to 650 HP.
China is very present at the IAA in Munich. In fact, almost one third of the manufacturers there belong to that country. MG or BYD is well known, and other brands such as Avatar They want to get their space in the growing electromobility market. This last manufacturer attended the German exhibition with the latest model, the Avatar 12.
First of all, it should be clarified that Avatr is an electric car brand that comes from an alliance between Chinese companies Changan, Huawei and CATL. The twelfth model is the Avatr 12 – it reads one two and not twelve – and because of its design, technology and performance it wants to stand out with models like the Porsche Taycan, the Tesla Model S or the Mercedes-Benz EQS .

Despite being a conglomerate of Chinese brands, the design was created by the design studio of former BMW employee Nader Faghihzadeh. As you can see in the photos, Avatr 12 has characteristic shapes and unusual solutions in this area. For example, There is no glass on the back.so it relies on two cameras to give the driver a view of what’s going on behind.
Avatr 12: more technology
Other aspects to highlight are very thin ‘C’ shaped optical groups active aerodynamics with movable front wings and rear wing, as well as cameras that change the rear mirrors. On the side, next to the wheel arch, you can see the ‘HI’ logo, which stands for Huawei Inside. and that tells us what awaits us in the cabin and on the mechanical side.
Behind closed doors, Avatr 12 welcomes us to a panoramic screen below the windshield surrounded by screens of cameras that serve as rear-view mirrors. In the center console there is a second screen for the infotainment system and physical buttons to control functions such as climate control. It is completed with a steering wheel flattened at its base and a top area with two buttons and heated seats with a massage function.
Avatr 12 has power: two versions and up to 578 CV
On a mechanical level, the Avatr 12 relies on Huawei (which makes the engines and electronics of this car) and has two variants. The first will equip an electrical unit with 313 HP of power and a maximum torque of 370 Nm while the most powerful version has two motors for one power of 578 HP and 650 Nm of torque. Both will be equipped with a CATL battery with a capacity of 94.5 kWh which provides the first model 700 km of autonomy according to the Chinese homologation cycle (about 560 km in WLTP) and secondly a range of 650 km (520 km WLTP).
There is no confirmed data on what kind of chargers it will use, although it is certain that they support fast charging for short periods until the batteries are fully recharged. It is also unknown if this model will eventually reach Europe although its presence at the Munich Motor Show will be a clear indication of what their purpose was in the Old Continent.
