Nicolas Sainz is 18 years old and different from the rest of the hundred young people he lives with College: “I compose music”Nicholas says. He wants to “dedicate himself to the world of music” and for this he is already working on “professional level” production. This is not a plan between friends. His team is made up of nine actors, but he also has a man who manages the social network and is a dance captain among others.
Since I was young I already wanted to have good stories on stage: “I’ve loved them all my life but I never knew what musicals wereShe remembers when she saw productions like Mary Poppins. She enjoyed them but didn’t understand the labels. She also took part in a few plays at school: “In sixth grade we worked on a musical and I participated as a secondary actorBut the crucial moment came when he began to see these works “on YouTube” and on the Internet they were nurtured by American music.
He admitted that he “didn’t have the budget for some of the music that is on Gran Vía”. Nevertheless, they make up for this lack of means with “a lot of work” and believe that the music “has a good level”., The important thing for Nichols is that “a quality product comes out for the budget we have”.
His musical, called ‘The Waiting Room’, was born long before its premiere: “The idea came to me when I was in the fourth year of ESO.” I mean, 5 years ago, He thought of a simple place: a waiting room, and then he began to compose. “I wrote the first song,” he recalls, but he put it on hiatus after a short time. He opened the newspaper several times, but nothing progressed, one day he thought: “what am i waiting for, if i can do itThis is how he began to “give a kick” to the script, to prepare the songs and to choreographically design what the music was going to be like.
a unique music director
“How many people my age have composed music?Nicholas asks. He believes this is not normal and it is something he wants to value “because he will probably be the youngest musician in Spain,” he acknowledges.
Nicholas is trained to achieve all that has been proposed. Although at first he felt that he could not devote himself to the world of acting as he was going to “starve”. He realized it was only about “working hard”, so in the end “last year he began studying performing arts at the mass school.,
But he doesn’t just study acting. This year he is attending the second course of bilingual teaching. Your schedule is a roller coaster: “Usually I have class during the week from Monday to Friday and I usually end at 12:30, then I usually come to the Colegio Mayor to record all the songs, then it’s time to eat and go. It’s time”. And over the weekend he rehearsed with professional actors at the Colegio Mayor.
The sacrifice this job demands could not have been overcome without a huge business. And it’s that, even before he knew it, he was already what it was like to be a director: “We had a radio cassette at home with classical music”, recalls Nichols. ,I would take a stool, put it in the living room and start acting as if I were a director“, explain. He was five years old: “I loved to control that all music works.” Thirteen years later, he managed to do it professionally. Lights will be lit for the first time for this young director at the Colegio Mayor Moncloa on December 16, 17 and 18,
