If you’re used to using Photoshop in class or at work, you probably miss it at home when you want to edit photos. There are many editors and image retouching software, but as the interface changes, the functions change. If you’re looking for something exactly like Adobe’s, you can do that too. and free. Photopia is a web page that we can access to edit photos and its interface is very similar to Photoshop. Same equipment, same job. And what’s better: in exactly the same places the originals were, saving you having to go looking for brushes or cloned plugs.
How to use
The best thing about Photopea is that we can use it without registration or download. All you have to do is visit their website. We go to the web page in the browser and access Photopea. There is no registration and nothing needs to be downloaded to your PC to start using the features and tools. It doesn’t matter if you use it from your computer or from a computer that is not yours but you are using temporarily, eg. Once you enter the web, you can start editing whatever you want and without any limits.
You don’t have to pay anything, you don’t have to do anything other than the web. In addition, one of the main advantages is that it is completely available in Spanish, so it will be even easier to use it.
When we open the web, we have several sections. On the main screen, in the center, we can see “New project”, “Open from computer” or “Template”. Also in the menu it gives us access to an explorer where to find images or files. We can access computer storage but also access files stored in the cloud and it is compatible with Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive…
Once we upload or create the file, we start editing.
Features and Equipment
Using Photopea is exactly the same as using Photoshop, so you won’t have any problems if you usually use Adobe’s program. Same menu, same function.
At the top we will find the different menus in “More”: File, Edit, Image, Layer, Selection, Filter, View, Window… and other account or language settings.
On the left we will find the different tools, with the same icons and symbols as in Photoshop. You can try them all. Has selection buttons, crop, lasso, magic wand, eyedropper, healing brush, brush, clone plug, eraser, gradient tool, blur, dodge…
We can choose the tools we want and add the effects we like. If you want to know more about each of them, you should read Adobe’s tutorials for Photoshop and you will learn how to handle all of them. When you’ve applied the necessary changes, we save.
Save and export
Photopea’s saving options allow us all kinds of formats, files and possibilities. Just tap on the “File to open” drop-down menu. Here we will have several options from which we can choose:
- Keep
- save as psd
- save more…
- Export as…
- impression
One advantage is that it allows us to save in a large number of formats. If you choose “Export as…”, you will be able to use all format options: PNG, JPG, SVG, GIF, MP4, PDF, WEBP, BMP, TIFF, ICO, DDS, TGA , PPM, RAW, EMF, DXF.
You choose the one you want and you will be able to adjust the quality and the exact resolution, which makes it an essential tool that you should always add to your favorites.
