I’m sure you’ve never heard of it, but if you look, you’ll see what you see from time to time. Although it probably isn’t, since apple custard is almost the same. But it really is saramuyo.
This food, whose scientific name is Annona squamosa, is native to tropical South America, the West Indies and tropical Africa and is most popular in Brazil and India. The fruit, which is called anon, is raw, but can be used for juices and sorbets. Milk and ice cream can also be added.
The fruit is usually round with very sharp green scales – when the saramuyo is overripe it tends to turn red: the pulp is sweet, juicy, white, and has a taste and smell similar to cinnamon. It has elongated segments, and each holds an oblong seed, which varies from brown to black. It is estimated that each saramuyo has between 20 and 40 seeds.
In many parts of tropical America, a decoction of the leaves is used to treat colds and ailments related to the urethra or digestive system. But it has many other benefits for the body if taken regularly.
It keeps the skin younger and gives energy
Anón is a traditional natural remedy for treating all types of skin related problems. Tunsa is taken crushed until it is added with cream and salt. Then the heat of the sun, acne and redness spreads.
These delicious fruits are an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin B. They also contain a powerful antioxidant that helps keep hair shiny and skin healthy and young. Regular consumption of this tropical fruit is effective in delaying aging and promoting skin cell rejuvenation. It also helps increase skin elasticity by stimulating collagen production.
Saramuyos contain vitamin B1. Also known as thiamine, this is an important nutrient that helps convert sugars into energy more easily. If you always need a dose of energy, you know that from time to time your partner struggles with fatigue, tiredness and physical weakness. And people who have anemia can also benefit from blackberries, since the iron content helps a lot to produce red blood cells.
Due to its high magnesium content, sugar syrup helps relax the heart muscles, reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke. Bad cholesterol can be lowered thanks to vitamin B3 in the fruit, which promotes good cholesterol and provides fiber levels.
It is considered to be able to help prevent tumor cell growth and reduce the risk of cancer by having alkaloids and acetogenin. In addition, the bark contains tannins and astringents, which have proven to be effective in reducing the appearance of this disease, for which there is no definitive treatment.
People with Parkinson’s should be careful not to take large amounts of this fruit. Some studies have shown that apple sugar accelerates the effects of the disease, since it contains acetogins, which are plant neurotoxins. Therefore, caution should be used.
Sow carefully. The grapes of this fruit contain toxic chemicals that are used to kill insects as an insecticide. You have to be very careful in this part, because it can cause blindness if there is direct contact.
