San Leandro: Three people were shot at a birthday party early Thursday. police gave this information.
Their gender, age and residence have not yet been released, but police said all three suffered non-fatal wounds.
A shooting was reported around 2 a.m. Thursday at a banquet hall in the 15200 block of Hesperian Boulevard.
Police received several 911 calls about a shooting there and on an unrelated call a few blocks away an officer heard the shots and arrived on the scene within seconds.
The police saw a large crowd leaving the hall but no one was saying what happened.
Officers unearthed more than 30 shell casings from two different calibers of ammunition and it was later discovered that three people who were injured after being shot at the party were taken to hospital for treatment.
The reason for the shooting has not yet been disclosed and no arrests have been announced.
The police had responded to the complaint of loud music around 11 pm on Wednesday night at the same place and it was learned that a birthday party celebration was being organized there. Police said the officers left after talking to the security personnel present at the spot and requesting them to stop the music.
“We are grateful that the victims of this senseless shooting did not suffer any serious injuries and urged anyone to call the police and help in solving this crime,” Captain Ali Khan said.
