Three killed in shooting in upscale Los Angeles neighborhood

LOS ANGELES ( Associated Press) — Three people were killed and four others were wounded in a shooting at an apartment rental in an upscale Los Angeles area early Saturday. Police gave this information.

The shooting occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. in the Beverly Crest neighborhood. This is at least the sixth mass shooting in California this month.

Sergeant Frank Preciado of the Los Angeles Police Department said the three people who died were inside a vehicle.

Police spokesman Sergeant Bruce Bourihan said two of the four victims were taken to area hospitals in private vehicles and two others were taken by ambulance. Borihan said two of the victims were in critical condition and the other two were in stable condition. Their age and gender have not been released.

Borihanh said detectives are trying to determine if there was a party at the rented house or what type of gathering it was.

He said that the police have no information about the accused. After the shooting, the block was cordoned off while investigators looked for evidence.

Saturday’s shooting followed a dance hall massacre in a Los Angeles suburb last week that killed 11 people and injured nine, as well as two Half Moon Bay Farms shootings that killed seven. and one was injured.

Last Saturday, Huu Can Tran, 72, shot people at a dance hall in a mostly Asian Monterey Park where thousands were attending a Lunar New Year celebration that afternoon. He then went to another ballroom, where an employee stopped the attack. Many of the dead were in their 60s and 70s.

When the police reached the van, Tran committed suicide.

On Monday, a man shot and killed four people at a mushroom farm where he worked, then went to another farm where he previously worked and killed three others there, authorities said. . Chunli Zhao, 66, is in jail and is facing charges of workplace violence, according to police.

The killings are a blow to the state, which has one of the strictest gun ownership laws and one of the lowest gun death rates in the country.

For the third year in a row, in 2022, the United States recorded more than 600 mass shootings that killed or injured at least four people, according to the Gun Violence Archive organization.
