August will be a very special month for the automotive industry, so will be affected by import constraints and frequent changes in the value of the dollar. After a long wait, three models from the VOLUME brand come 100% fresh, viz. Renault, Jeep and Citroen,
first to roll by Mendoza This new Renault Duster Oroch could be 2023, and the province will host the national launch of the French brand’s small truck, which is manufactured in Brazil and will begin to be sold in September.
But two other heavyweights that will also take off nationally and locally will be the new Jeep Renegade and the latest generation of the long-awaited – and delayed – Citroen C3.
New Duster Oroch
A few months back Renault unveiled the new Oroch in Brazil. The small van with Rhombus was presented with innovations in design, technology and comfort, safety and motorization.
Now it’s our turn to land, so the Rombo prepares all the land to introduce it at an event in Mendoza in late August, then goes on sale to the public in September.
As an advance, it should be noted that in Brazil it is marketed in Pro, Intense and Outsider versions. The first two levels are equipped with a 1.6 TCE engine, mated to a new six-speed manual gearbox, while the top of the Outsider range starts with the 1.3 TCE Flex Turbo engine, the same one used by the new Captur and Duster.
In design, the Aurochs gained more personality with new front grille and bumper as well as comfort elements like front fog and ski lights.
Improvements in comfort and technology, with a new interior: new panels, door hinges and seat finishes and connectivity technology. It comes with the new EasyLink 8” floating media center with wireless connectivity to smartphones via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Watch out for the Jeep Renegade
The 2022 Renegade range is also expected in August. The model is manufactured in Brazil, where it was launched last February. It now presents aesthetic changes in the exterior and interior, but at the same time it promises more technology and new motorization.
In the neighboring country, the Renegade range is available in four configurations: as the entry of the Sport range and the Longitude above with 4×2 drive (photo). While the most exclusive S and Trailhawk already mount 4×4 traction.
The strong point is that the T270 engine is offered in all respects, a modern 1.3 turbo that delivers a maximum power of 175 horsepower, coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Versions will come with driving aids and six airbags, while the most complete add driver’s knee airbags. While the Trailhawk variant remains with all-wheel drive and a traction mode selector, the case is mated to the T270 engine, which has removed the turbo diesel engine available in the current range from offer.
Delayed Citron C3
It was expected for the first quarter of 2022, finally the launch of the new regional and new generation Citron C3 will now take place in August. The semiconductor crisis is said to have been instrumental in holding the Stelantis group back.
The new model, made in Brazil, could be powered by a Fiat-origin 1.3 Firefly engine. This is what drives the Fiat Chronos, and that could debut in a model from the group. The reality is that the 1.6 EC5 currently used by the Peugeot 208 could be an option, although the trend is that it will most certainly be replaced in the medium term.
What the new model will offer will be a 10-inch touch screen, something that can already be seen in some of the images released by the group. In turn, it will also offer an automatic gearbox, which could be a new sign to mount the 1.3 engine combined with a CVT gearbox.
