Three months after the mass shooting, the VTA resumed light rail service in time to prepare for the 49ers Raiders game at Levi’s Stadium

San Jose-Three months after the mass shooting shut down all VTA trains, limited light rail service will resume on Sunday morning, just in time for passengers to go to Levi’s Stadium to watch the 49ers-Raiders preseason game.

The train will run every 30 minutes between 8 am and 7 pm, along the orange line from Mountain View to Alum Rock, including Milpitas Bart Station and Great America Station near Levi’s. Along the Green Line on First Street, from Civic Center to Old Ironsides Station, will follow the same schedule on Sunday.

The kick-off time for the 49ers-Raiders game is 1pm

Until full operation is resumed, the bus will continue to fill the vacancy, running hourly from 7 am to 7 pm, running along North First Street between San Antonio Avenue and Bay Point.

The agency said the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority plans to extend service hours on Monday.

VTA said in a statement on Saturday: “As we continue to bring employees back in a safe and compassionate manner, we will inform the public of the level of light rail service we can safely continue to provide.” “We thank the cycling community. Patience.”

Services on the remaining sections of the Green Line and Blue Line will be restored in phases. You can take the light rail for free until September 13th.

The VTA, which has been running buses on the train route, originally planned to restart the light rail service in July.

On the morning of May 26, when a disgruntled employee began the shooting, the agency had been working with traumatized employees who fled two buildings at the San Jose Guadalupe main railway station. Senior mechanic Sam Cassidy (Sam Cassidy) has a long history of conflicts and outbreaks with management and employees, and it is documented that he killed 9 colleagues and then committed suicide when law enforcement officers arrived.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and an independent law firm hired by the VTA are investigating the shooting.

The Transportation Bureau has been focusing on providing mental health counseling to its workers and moving the administrative office away from the railway hub from the crime scene for several weeks. If the workers return, it may cause post-traumatic stress. At the beginning of this month, many employees resumed working at the new location.

In the past week, VTA has been conducting trial runs with their railway operators and has continued to conduct safety inspections on trains, railways and equipment that have been dormant for several months.

From Monday-“until further notice”-VTA will continue to operate the entire Orange Line (part of the Green Line) and continue its “bus bridge” service, picking up passengers where the train leaves.

The following are the extended business hours from Monday:

• The orange line runs every 20 minutes from 5:30 in the morning to midnight, until 8 in the evening, when it runs every 30 minutes.

• The green line from the Civic Center to Old Ironsides runs every 20 minutes from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., until 8 p.m., when it runs every 30 minutes.

• The bus bridge along the first street from Paseo de San Antonio to Baypointe to Milpitas Transit Center/BART Station will run every 30 minutes from 5:30 am to 8:30 pm
