All three were taken to the hospital and their condition is critical. A suspect is in custody.
Three people are in critical condition after police stabbed them several times during a volatile situation inside a house in northern Sanich on Friday.
The Sydney-North Saanich RCMP was alerted by a 911 call, which said several people had been injured by a man inside a residence in the 10000 block of Derrick Road in North Saanich.
The RCMP said on Saturday that police forcibly entered the house and discovered three people who had been stabbed multiple times.
Police said the person they believed to be responsible was at the scene and was arrested without incident. “Responding officers relied on their training and de-escalation skills to detain this very agitated and violent man.
“I am grateful that all first responders worked professionally to bring this extremely volatile situation to a safe end,” CPL said. Andres Sanchez, spokesman for the Sydney-North Saanich RCMP.
The RCMP performed emergency first aid on the victims until a safe enough scene was determined for BC ambulance paramedics to enter.
The injuries of all three victims were so severe that they were taken to the hospital. He is expected to avoid injury.
The condition of all three was critical but stable till Saturday afternoon, police said.
Police said there was no danger to the public and at this stage of the investigation it is assumed that the arrested person knew the victims and that this was an isolated incident.
The youth arrested from the spot is in police custody.
Derrick Road is in the Deep Cove area of North Sanich. Large single family in 10000 block, five acres property with half acre property in west and one house on east side of road. The area is largely wooded and properties are valued at over $1 million.
