Republican Congressman Ken Buck asked Blinken if TikTok was “a threat to the security of the United States of America” to which the senior official replied: “I think it is. Yes.”
When the same lawmaker asked if the application of Chinese origin in the United States should be banned, the foreign minister replied that “it has to end in one way or another. There are different ways to do it.”
“We, Laelius, and others are going to address the challenge that (TikTok) poses and we are going to attack,” he said.
The United States has accused China of using TikTok as a spying tool, banning the app from transferring mobile phones to the government, while Congress vetoed the country’s bills.
