The President emphasized that initially it is planned to install five more traffic lights out of a total of fifteen, which will be installed in other places identified by the traffic police as expressways with the largest traffic volume.

He added that the remaining traffic lights will be installed during the year and this traffic light installation program is scheduled to be completed in 2024, the purpose of which is to prevent accidents and speed up road traffic in the city.

“There are five points with a lot of vehicle capacity that will finally be put at the service of citizens, that is the idea to avoid so many car accidents that unfortunately have happened,” he explained.

He added that 3 million 600 thousand pesos were invested in the installation of each point in the implementation of which the Secretariat of Public Works, Urban Planning and Ecology and the Ahome Municipal Traffic Police participated.

The traffic lights were installed in: Zacatecas and Heriberto Valdez, Alameda and Centenario, Río de las Cañas and Agustina Ramírez, Rosendo G. Castro and Doroteo Arango and finally Justicia Social and Francisco Agraz (Dren Juárez).

10 double traffic lights were installed at the Agustina Ramírez and Río de Las Cañas points, specifying that the lights are high quality LEDs that allow the motorist a better view of the traffic light change.

It should be noted that the authority is asking motorists who drive through these traffic lights every day to leave their homes early to go to work or to leave their children at school.

To date, there are a total of 103 traffic lights in the city and given the growth of the city, it was necessary to install new traffic lights to free up traffic quickly.
