TRIBUNNEWS.COM, DETROIT – General Motors is seeking to increase sales of electric cars (EVs) in the United States by offering an electric SUV for $30,000.
The electric SUV named Chevrolet Equinox EV 2024 has a range of up to 300 miles.
The car will test GM’s ability to create affordable EVs that will appeal to American consumers. Chevrolet Equinox EV 2024 is set to go on sale next year.

Launched from TechCrunch, the compact SUV is one of the best selling car types in the US market and the Equinox is sold at a more affordable price than its rivals, Ford and Tesla.
According to automotive research firm Kelley Blue Book, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV is also 50 percent cheaper than the average new EV of $64,000.
Prior to this, GM produced and sold the affordable Chevrolet Bolt EV.
Since its launch, the Bolt EV has sold over 200,000 units. GM hopes the Altium battery-powered Equinox could attract more consumers.
“The Equinox EV is the EV for everyone. It’s an affordable game changer, delivering an uncompromising experience with more features that won’t change your daily routine — except you no longer have to stop at a gas station,” says Vice Said Chevrolet President, Scott Bell.
The Chevrolet Equinox EV 2024 gets 19-inch wheels, a driver assistance system and an infotainment system that can be upgraded with a 17.7-inch screen.
Users of these cars can upgrade Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology to GM’s hands-free Super Cruise system, which can help drivers stay on the right track and keep the right distance from other vehicles on the road.

The all-electric Equinox is the third EV introduced by GM this year. The car will be joined by other GM EVs like the Cadillac Celestique, GMC Hummer EV, Silverado EV Truck, Chevrolet Bolt EV and Chevrolet Blazer EV.
In July, GM unveiled the Chevrolet Blazer EV, an all-electric SUV with a range of up to 320 miles, starting at $48,000.
The Chevrolet Blazer EV, which goes on sale in 2023, isn’t GM’s only electric vehicle to come. Several EVs like Cadillacs and Chevys also began to be marketed.
The Blazer and Equinox EVs that come at a lower price are expected to meet GM’s sales target.
