Today, Saturday, May 20, Cartagena’s Mayor’s Office will be filled with joy and gratitude by celebrating Family Day, keeping the elderly at the center of attention. This special commemoration will take place in 30 life centers, 106 organized groups and 3 geriatric homes located in the three boroughs of the city as well as in the insular area and corrigiments.
The celebration will include the participation of Mayor William Dau Chamat and the Secretary of Partnership and Social Development, Cielo Blanco Flórez, to honor and recognize the importance of older people in the fabric of the family. Their participation reflects the commitment of the district administration for the betterment of this population group.
A diverse agenda has been chalked out at each location, in which the elderly will be the protagonists. Planned activities include dance, special exercises adapted for older adults, comprehensive care, and cultural activities. Furthermore, the Mayor’s Office has organized an institutional proposal specifically for our elders, seeking to provide them with an environment conducive to their well-being and growth.

My elderly person, the center of my family, is more than a motto, it is a call to recognize and value the importance of the elderly. Our Constructing the history of the family”, affirmed Cielo Blanco Flórez, Secretary of Participation and Social Development.
The event will have the participation of public order partners such as DADIS, IDER, Institute of Heritage and Culture – IPCC, Environmental Public Foundation – EPA Cartagena, ESE Local Hospital Cartagena de Indias, Civil Income, Social Emergency Plan – Pedro Romero. and the School of Government and Leadership; and from the private sector, social organizations, educational and university institutions, foundations, community action boards, religious communities, private sector companies, who have enthusiastically joined hands to make this festival possible. Partnership and from the Ministry of Social Development and each life centre, organized group and old age home, their cooperation is appreciated and their commitment to the well-being of the elderly is recognized.
