Tom Brady beats the Patriots in his New England comeback, 19-17

FOXBORO, Mass. – Tom Brady brought two decades of touchdown passes, wins and championships to New England.

He returned Sunday night and reminded his former team what they were missing.

Brady rallied the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a 19-17 win over the Patriots in the rain on Sunday night, with Ryan Sukop winning a 48-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter.

Brady was 22 for 43 for 269 yards without a touchdown, but he prepared a fourth-quarter drive to defeat his former team. Ronald Jones added an 8-yard scoring run to defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay (3-1).

“So many great people who have been friends for a long time. What a great game,” Brady said. “They got a really good football team. He earned us “

Brady broke Drew Brees’ NFL career passing yardage record and became the fourth quarterback with victories against all 32 NFL teams, joining Brees, Brett Favre, and Peyton Manning.

“He fielded us in tough times when we needed a field goal,” said Bucks coach Bruce Arian. “He was not going to make a mistake that cost us the game.”

New England had a chance to win, but Nick Folk’s 56-yard field-goal effort hit a straight to the left with less than a minute left. The Patriots are 1-3 for the first time since 2001. Bill Belichick is now 8-12 years old since Brady left New England.

“The Books won this game,” Arian said. “Everyone wanted to make this Brady vs. Belichick. I don’t think Bill took a picture.”

Belichick didn’t say anything Brady didn’t surprise him with.

“We went defensively against Tom Brady every day, every day in practice,” Belichick said. “So it’s not like we’ve ever seen Tom Brady before.”
