While Tom Brady was telling jokes at the White House, his longtime personal trainer Alex Guerrero provided some insight into the quarterback’s future.
Guerrero spoke on The Adam Schefter podcast and offered the idea that there’s no reason Brady, who turns 44 in August, can’t play at least two more seasons. That’s the plan, and hope for the former Patriots quarterback.
“I think the biggest achievement on my part will probably be when we get to it at 45 because that was his goal. It would probably be the proudest moment for me to say, ‘Hey, we really did. I did it,'” Guerrero told Schefter. “I know from my point of view that I want to honor my promise to help him with his goal. If his goal changes, it doesn’t matter. If he says, ‘Hey, I think I’ll call it a day,’ great. There is no problem. I will support it 100 percent.
“But in my mind, I’m trying to prepare him to be able to do that,” he went on. “I thought about this year two years ago. I try to put his body three years ahead of where we’re going. I’m not just thinking about next year, but about ‘what if he’s 45′ But feels so good that he wants to play at 46?’ I don’t know, so I’ll plan better! I plan better to think about how I’m supposed to prepare her body for 46 or 47. I don’t know.”
Guerrero, Brady’s business partner at TB12, also said that he is not “super strict” with the quarterback on following his strict plant-based diet.
“We are not like that. We are very balanced. We do things to help our bodies stay in balance all the time,” he said. “So if we feel the need to heat up pizza and eat pizza, then We’re going to do it. If he needs a cheeseburger, we’re going to do it.”
