TicketSource — an online ticket vendor that “(monitors) allocations, bookings and sessions all within a free system” — conducted and published a study that sought to determine the “most talented” states in the country.
“We used Wikipedia to compile a list of celebrities from each of the following categories: actors and actresses, singers and rappers, comedians, and athletes, consisting of basketball players, American football players, baseball players and ie hockey players,” the study explains.
“For each category, we count how many stars were born in each state to create a ranking, before getting a total number by combining all four categories.”
In a press release sent after the publication of the study, TicketSource ranked Pennsylvania as the number one state that “produces” the highest number of MLB players with a total of 1,709. Overall, Pennsylvania is fourth when it comes to the number of native talented individuals with 6,474 total.
As for the number one state, that’s California with nearly twice as many talented people as Pennsylvania: 12,793 total.
“It includes over 6,100 actors and actresses, including the likes of Angelina Jolie, Ben Affleck, Zendaya, and Zac Efron,” explained TicketSoure. “There are also over 2,600 singers and rappers born in the state, such as Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Frank Ocean, and Cher.
Rounding out the top three are New York and Texas in second and third, respectively.
