Tottenham reborn with a great win over Newcastle

Tottenham - Newcastle: Tottenham 'reborn' with a great win over Newcastle

Postecoglou’s Tottenham snapped their terrible streak and got back on track with a win against a Newcastle lived week to forget. 3-0 against Everton on Thursday, 4-1 today in London. All in the run-up to the decisive Champions League match against Milan. Son led Spurs with a remarkable game and Richarlison broke his drought with a great double.

Tottenham need to break their poor dynamic. Five games without a win, four losses… and three of them in a row in front of their fans. The dreams at the beginning of the year faded and Postecoglou, who shone in the first months, was questioned because of his dangerous style of play. But against Newcastle he didn’t abandon his style. And he destroyed the ‘magpies’.

The first part was a ‘Spurs’ dance. 2-0 fell short, indeed. It is true that Isak had a very clear moment which was foiled, in part, by a good performance by Ben Davies. But there are no more Eddie Howe’s men … who have just been beaten by Everton (3-0) and have a decisive duel in the Champions League this week (against Milan).

Tottenham glared at the Son holding the baton. Two assists from the South Korean for the goals of Udogie and Richarlison. The Italian made up for his mistake against West Ham with a 1-0 lead, Richarlison breaking his drought with a second. And there are chances for more.

The second part, however, seems to have a different script. Newcastle came out of the locker room better and put a lot of pressure on Tottenham. They are the best minute of the guests. But, when they were 2-1 … it was 3-0. Richarlison doubled after a well-filtered pass from Pedro Porro behind the centre-backs. Moments later, Tottenham conceded a fourth. Newcastle is on the canvas.

In the deciding game, there was not much to see in London. But ‘Cuti’ Romero took the red card for an action that was too aggressive and out of place … and Anak closed his big game. Two assists, a penalty and a goal for 4-0. In the 91st minute, it was Joelinton who scored.
