There are more and more new SUV launches in our country, which are preferred by the public due to their versatility and size. However, there are brands that do not want to ignore a classic segment such as the hatchback, as Toyota has proven with the recent launch of the Yaris with a very attractive safety offer, and here we put some of its main competitors to the test.
We believe that the main competitors to beat in this renewed proposal from the Japanese brand are the Seat Ibiza, the Suzuki Baleno, the Kia Rio5 and the Volkswagen Polo.
In this comparison we analyze four basic points, such as dimensions, engine, features and prices. We believe that with them you will be able to decide between these vehicles and, above all, know what each one has to offer.
Let’s start with the first point, the dimensions, a fundamental point to know which model offers more space. They are all very consistent, the Kia Rio5 wins in wheelbase, the Seat Ibiza in boot space, the Toyota Yaris hatchback in length and all offer tires between 15 and 17 inches. The origins? All different, from South American to European.
In this article we believe that the Seat Ibiza has a slight advantage by offering a turbo engine in one of its versions, but unfortunately the price increases quite a bit. In general, these are vehicles with small naturally aspirated engines, with mixed performance, varying between 15 and 18 km/l and all with mechanical and automatic transmissions.
At this point it is very even and it is difficult to pick a possible winner, but we believe that the Toyota Yaris hatchback is a step ahead of its competition in the standard versions (which we have analyzed) as it is equipped with seven airbags Only the control is still pending. Cruise control and sensors, this last point is well replaced by a rear view camera.
Finally, we leave the prices, which range from 13 to 18 million pesos. Here the Kia Rio5 undoubtedly has an advantage as it offers a starting price of $13,152,556, followed by the Suzuki Baleno which offers it at $13,490,000.
