Toyota is set to launch their pickup truck Hilux in India soon. The matter has been confirmed by Toyota India. The Hilux will be the third model of the Japanese carmaker’s IMV platform after Fortuner and Innova. The Helix Isuzu will compete with the D-Max V-Cross.
India-spec Toyota could launch the Helix with a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel that is also available in the facelifted Toyota Fortuner. However, it is unlikely that the Hilux will be offered with 2.7-liter petrol. It is expected to have an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also expected are LED lighting, keyless entry, auto headlights, eight-inch infotainment system, 18-inch alloy wheels, ventilation seats, cruise control and integrated car technology.
Safety features may include seven airbags, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist, anti-theft alarm, ISOFIX child seat mount and ABS. This is the 8th generation model of Toyota Hilux that has been on the market since 2015, but it was massively facelifted by the company with Fortuner last year.
Fortuner and Innova are the most preferred cars in their segment. These vehicles are also a good option from the point of view of a large family, due to which there is a demand for them in the market. The Toyota Hilux could use the Fortuner and Innover technology platforms, which would lower its price. With this, Hilux can make a splash in the Indian market. It can cost Rs 27-28 lakh. The company will launch Hilux in the second half of January 2022.
