Trade Minister Julhas releases US$ 4 million steel exports to New Zealand

Image_PdfImage_Print – Trade Minister (Mendag) Zulkifli Hassan (Zulhas) released the export of steel plates, structural beams and welded beams produced by PT Gunung Raja Paxi TBK for US$4 million to Dunedin Hospital in New Zealand.

“I know, New Zealand has strict qualifications. And this export is a testament to the acknowledgment that the quality of Indonesian steel produced is world class and well received.”

To that end, the Minister of Trade requested that these achievements be maintained and improved upon as the government seeks to improve the quality of Indonesian products, goods and services as well as investments in the future. This is to improve the image of Indonesia as an industrialized country and it is expected that it will make a big contribution to the welfare of the people.

Zulhas explained that New Zealand is not currently listed as the main destination for Indonesia’s iron and steel exports, but the trade minister expressed happiness that PT Gunung Raja Paxi was able to enter this potential market.

“I hope that in the future New Zealand can become one of the main destinations for Indonesia’s iron and steel exports,” Zulkifli said.

According to the head of PAN, PT Gunung Raja Paxi’s steel products have been used in several prestigious projects including the expansion of the Los Angeles Airport (LAX), Sydney Indoor Stadium and the construction of the Lucid Motors factory, which is a manufacturer of Luxury electric vehicles in the United States.

In addition, several projects in New Zealand, including the Christchurch Metro Stadium, University of Auckland Building 507 and the Waimakiri Bridge.

“Therefore, I would like to challenge PT Gunung Raja Paxi to be able to double its exports not only to the main destination countries but also to potential countries like New Zealand,” the trade minister said.

The Trade Minister also requested that companies take advantage of Indonesia’s various trade agreements with various countries of the world, such as Japan, Australia, Switzerland, Norway, Pakistan, South Korea, Chile, Mozambique, UAE, ASEAN countries and RCEP. Member.

“All of these have been treated as tariffs, so that the opportunity to enter the market is broadened,” the trade minister said.

The iron and steel industry is known as the mother of industries, as its production is used to encourage the growth of other industries.

The trade minister said that Indonesia is currently the world’s 10th largest iron and steel exporter in 2021 with a share of 3.37 percent

The growth trend in Indonesia’s iron and steel exports over the past five years is the largest among the top 30 exporters of iron and steel in the world, accounting for 49.3 percent.[prs]
