Tributes flow for Gold Coast man who took his own life at funeral service

Tragedy as a 25-year-old young twin takes her life while attending a funeral as the traumatized and paramedics do their best to save her – leaving family and friends scattered: ‘Wish you call me’

Shattered family and friends remember a beloved young man who tragically took his own life while attending a funeral.

Spike Porter, 25, was at a service on Tuesday at Pimpama Island Cemetery in the Gold Coast.

As the Gold Coast Bulletin reports, Mr. Porter was in the back of a car in the procession when the incident came to light.

Paramedics and eyewitnesses tried their best to save Mr Porter, but he died of serious head injuries.

Since then, the bereaved families have paid tribute to the young man.

A friend said that he would cherish the time they spent together.

He wrote, ‘I wish you f**king called me.

Another fellow said Mr Porter’s heart was “too big” for this world.

He said, ‘I wish you were here now, so that you can see how much love and respect everyone has for you.

‘I wish you could see and love yourself the way we all see and love you.’

‘Lost for words on another life thus lost. Your fight is over and you can rest easy. My heart is broken for your entire family and all your friends,’ said another distraught friend.

Another said that his heart was ‘paining’ by the news.

‘No measure will ever fix the hole you left in me. It doesn’t quite cut it to say you will be missed, I will miss you and think of you for the rest of my days,’ another loved one shared.

Another friend posted, ‘My heart breaks for your entire family and all your friends.

Mr Porter’s twin brother Eddie shared a photo of the couple laughing together.

A GoFundMe page has since been set up to help her family cope with their loss.

To date, more than $20,000 has been raised.

‘Spike is a son, a brother, a twin, an uncle, and is loved by all of us. He means a lot to everyone and will always be remembered,’ wrote Bridie Pipe, organizing the fundraiser.
