Trout hit 5th HR in 5-game series, Angels beat Mariners

SEATTLE ( Associated Press) — Mike Trout made his fifth home in a five-match series as the Los Angeles Angels beat the Seattle Mariners 4-0 on Sunday.

Trout scored two home runs in the first match of the series and one in each of the final three matches. Five home runs set the record for any player in a singles series against the Mariners, with George Bell in 1987 and Trevor Story of Boston earlier this season.

Trout’s two-run drive in the fourth inning was his 52nd career homer against Seattle, the most matches by any Mariners player to Rafael Palmeiro.

The three-time AL MVP has 21 homers this season, four behind Yankees major league leader Aaron Judge.

Max Stacy added an RBI double for the Angels, which won four of five against Seattle.

Kenny Rosenberg was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake City by the Angels to start his first career and make his third major league appearance. The left-handed batsman held the Mariners to two hits in 4 2-3 innings.

Andrew Vantz (1–0) took the win, playing the sixth inning with two strikeouts. Six Angels pitchers combined on a two-hitter.

Logan Gilbert (7-3) conceded two runs and four hits in six innings.

The Mariners loaded the base into fourth on two walks and a single by JP Crawford, but Kyle Raleigh was off the ground.
