Weekends don’t have to mean stopping learning. In fact, the experience of the weekend could lead to a future in the medical field.
On Saturday, January 28, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Texas Tech University Health, hundreds of El Paso County sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students will learn about careers in the health sciences during the 12th Annual MedVenture for Your Future. I will know Science Center Campus in El Paso.
The free event, hosted by TTUHSC El Paso, aims to spark an interest in the health sciences at a young age. Over 500 students and parents have signed up for this year’s MedVenture for Your Future.
This one-day event offers hands-on science workshops and creative ways for parents to encourage their children to learn about health science.
Workshops on the heart, brain and veterinary medicine are among those students will explore on Saturday. There will be a tour of the Medical Education Building.
Kelly Tomblin, President and CEO of El Paso Electric, will deliver the keynote address welcoming the students and their parents. Tomblin is a longtime supporter of TTUHSC El Paso, including serving on the President’s Development Council.
A special thanks to the presenting sponsors of MedVenture for Your Future: El Paso Electric, FirstLight Federal Credit Union, Destination El Paso and our other generous program sponsors.
