Twice Bichette HR, Manoh goes 8 as Jays beat Reds 3-1

TORONTO ( Associated Press) — Bo Bichette scored two home runs, pitcher Alek Manoah worked eight innings to match his career-high score as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-1 on Saturday.

The fourth of Bichette’s career, number 50, was Bichette’s first solo home run from right-hander Hunter Greene. He added a two-run blast off Luis Cesa (2-1) in the seventh. Both came on the first pitch in the multi-homer game of their sixth career.

“I never knew 50 was a milestone,” Bichette said. “I am grateful to be here and have the opportunity to score home runs in the major leagues.”

All six of Bichette’s home runs this season have tied the game or given the Blue Jays the lead.

Green allowed one run and four hits in six innings, two walks and hit a six in his first start since tossing a 7 1/3 hitless innings against Pittsburgh last Sunday.

Manoah (5-1) scored a run and seven hits to break a three-start winless streak and get his first W since April 28 against Boston. He did not run and hit four.
