Two people have already won $2 million with the new “Florida 100X The Cash” scratch-off lottery.
The Florida Lottery reported that 28-year-old George M. Yazgi won the million-dollar prize after spending $10 on a ticket.
Yazgi purchased the ticket at an FCE business located at 9551 San Jose Blvd. in Jacksonville. The player claimed the prize last January. His name surfaced last week as a result of the enforcement of a state law providing for a 90-day period for disclosure of the identity of jackpot winners.
The individual opted to disburse the money in one payment, which amounts to $1,390,000
Administrators of stores selling tickets will receive $4,000 in commission.
“Florida 100X The Cash” is a newly created scratch-off game slated to launch in October 2022. The game offers over $270 million in prizes, including three top prizes of $2 million each. The odds of winning are 1 in 3.43.
Another player, 57, won that amount in November with a similar scratch-off. The winner, identified as Diane McHomme, lives in Gainesville. His case was announced in March. The woman pocketed $1,390,000 by opting for the one-time cash payment.
Scratch-off games accounted for about 77% of lottery ticket sales in Florida in fiscal year 2021-2022. Additionally, these games have raised more than $17.77 billion for the Educational Trust Fund (EETF) since their launch, the Lottery reported.
