Authorities believe there are more bodies underground in the area.
The Office of the Prosecutor confirmed the discovery of two bodies under concrete in Arica, in northern Chile, which they had reported to the criminal organization Tren de Aragua.
“We know that more is possible, not in this place, but in Cerro Chuno”, confirmed the regional prosecutor of Arica and Parinacota, Mario Carrera.
This Thursday afternoon, the prosecutor’s office announced the discovery of two bodies buried under a concrete structure in Cerro Chuño de Arica.
Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Brigade and the Homicide Brigade of the PDI began working at the scene as part of an investigation against an organization called Los Gallegos, the armed wing of the Venezuelan criminal group Tren de Aragua.
As confirmed by the regional prosecutor Mario Carrera, the perpetrator of the crime is detained, which will be confirmed when the victims are identified positively.
“If they correspond to the identities we are looking for, we would also have criminals already detained in other murders and other cases,” said the prosecutor.
“In the framework of the investigation we determined that the place where the two corpses were possibly, we carried out the previous investigation in the previous months without results, but we continued to search and today we were finally able to find the two corpses,” he added.
In addition, he affirmed with certainty that several corpses were buried in the place and that the victims of the group, which is Tren de Aragua, answered.
Unfortunately, they are not the last corpses we are looking for. We know there are more, not in this place, but in Cerro Chuño,” he said.
To do the work, heavy machinery had to be used, since the bodies were several meters underground and the structure was covered with concrete.
