Emirates news agency WAM reported on Saturday that the UAE sent 27 tonnes of food and medical supplies to aid Ukrainian refugees in Poland.
UAE Ambassador to Ukraine Salem Ahmed Al-Kaabi reaffirmed the country’s eagerness to contribute to humanitarian relief efforts.

The Gulf country has so far sent six planes carrying 156 tonnes of food, medical aid and ambulances to Poland and Moldova to help refugees fleeing Ukraine after Russia’s invasion on February 24.
The aid comes as part of the UAE’s commitment to donate AED18.3 million (US$5 million) in response to the UN’s humanitarian flash appeal.
WAM reported that Dubai International Humanitarian City (IHC) has also sent 124 tonnes of relief supplies and shelter equipment along with other international organizations to the city.
More than 5.5 million Ukrainians have fled neighboring Poland, Moldova, Romania and beyond since Russia’s invasion of Russia on February 24, according to the United Nations, which it called Europe’s fastest growing refugee crisis since World War II. .
As Ukraine wars east, Kyiv received a major boost on Friday when the European Union recommended that it become a candidate to join the bloc, foreshadowing a dramatic geopolitical shift in the wake of Russia’s invasion .
