UAlbany football defensive end verse enters NCAA transfer portal

ALBANY — UAlbany football has been moving into 2022 without its top defensive player for the past two seasons, as defensive end Jared Versace announced Tuesday that he is entering the NCAA’s transfer portal.

Verse, the 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end, announced his decision in a social-media post.

Within hours of announcing his foray into the relocation portal, Verse also posted Tuesday that he had received offers from a pair of FBS programs, Kansas and Western Kentucky.

A native of Berwick, Pennsylvania, Verse was the first team All-CAA selection this season with 9.5 sacks, 11.5 tackles for 11.5 losses, and 52 total tackles, while playing in all 11 games the Great Danes were 2–9. were ahead. He burst onto the scene last spring, earning CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and second-team All-Conference recognition when he racked up four sacks and a CAA-high 10 tackle for a loss in just four games.
