Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared that “Russian society is no longer respected in the world” for electing and reappointing President Vladimir Putin as president, making him the “second Hitler.”
“Russian society has lost the respect of the world. They elected him (Putin), they re-elected him and they raised the second Hitler. You did it. We can’t go back to the past, but we can stop it here,” he emphasized during an interview with the American television channel CBS.
Zelensky highlighted the help he received during the Russian invasion and pointed out that the United States is not only helping Ukraine: “The United States is helping Ukraine financially, and I am grateful to them for that. But I think they don’t just support Ukraine. If Ukraine falls, Putin will definitely go further. What will the United States do if Putin reaches the Baltic countries? When he reaches the Polish border? And he will go,” he explained, referring to the more than $70 billion (around €65,600 million) in aid that Washington has provided so far.
Regarding the need for greater help, he made it clear that there are no exact numbers. “The whole world must decide whether we want to stop Putin or start a world war. We cannot change it,” he said, emphasizing that Putin is the “second king of anti-Semitism after Hitler.”
Therefore, he warned of the possibility of a third world war breaking out. “If Ukraine falls, what will happen in ten years? Think about it. If they reach Poland, what will happen next? A third world war?” said.
“We defend the values of the whole world. And it is the Ukrainian people who are paying the ultimate price. We really fight for our freedom, we die. We are not fiction, we are not a book. We “We are really fighting a nuclear state that threatens to destroy the world,” he said.
Zelensky stressed that Putin would use the threat of nuclear war to fuel instability in the United States and Europe. “I think he will continue to threaten. He is waiting for the United States to lose stability. He believes this will happen during the American elections. He will seek instability in Europe and the United States. He will take advantage of the risk. “Nuclear weapons would increase this instability,” he complained.
The Ukrainian president also said he was “concerned” about the upcoming electoral process in the United States and indicated that while U.S. military aid had not arrived “quickly enough,” he thanked President Joe Biden for all his support . .
PROBLEMS IN THE COUNTEROFFENSIVE
Regarding the Ukrainian counteroffensive, Zelensky admitted that the army was advancing “slowly,” but defended that the troops were continuing to advance and that the front line had become an “artillery duel,” with about 40,000 projectiles being fired daily.
“It’s a difficult situation. I’ll be completely honest with you. We have the initiative. That’s an advantage,” he said. “We stopped the Russian offensive and went on to the counteroffensive. And yet she’s not very fast. It is important that we move forward every day and liberate territories,” he stressed, clarifying that “we must liberate as much territory as possible” and try to move forward. “We cannot give Putin a ceasefire,” he continued.
Regarding the use of drones to carry out attacks on Russian territory, Zelensky reiterated that the partners’ weapons “will be used only on Ukrainian territory.” “Russia must know that Ukraine has every moral right to attack these places, wherever it is, no matter from which place it fires missiles to attack Ukraine. We respond to them by saying, ‘Your sky is not as well protected as you think.’ .”,” he explained.
“By choosing civilian targets, Putin is trying to break us. This person who has made his way through such bloody acts cannot be trusted with everything he said. You can’t trust someone like that because he stopped being a leader a long time ago. “Human,” he concluded.
