The Teatro del Mercado de Zaragoza will raise the curtains on social inclusion from June 1 to 4, with the show ‘Casa’ joining hands with the ‘Cados del Zielo’ project, which combines actors with the participation of people at risk of exclusion and professional actresses.
The theater serves as a way of expression, therapy and personal growth for people fighting to avoid social exclusion through this workshop, in collaboration with the Zaragoza City Council, the Social Action of the Obra Social de Caixabank and the Family Sector Is, coordinator of institutions for the homeless of Zaragoza and design of the High School of Aragon.
The theater workshop is included in the Zaragoza City Council’s First Opportunities Plan, which focuses on personal development and social participation in one of its axes to advance in inclusion routes.
Through this artistic-social project, it has been possible to create a space for meeting, communication, creation and empathy with a universal language like theatre, capable of promoting processes of reform and transformation, in a press release the city of Zaragoza Council report.
As with their first work, ‘Nobody’, the project received much acclaim in 2020 and 2021 for its artistic quality and the potential for personal and social transformation experienced by all participants. In 2022 he repeated his success with the play Nobody Waits for Godot.
Now, they present ‘Casa’, a collectively produced show based on a play by Félix Martin, Lucia Miranda and the work of other authors.
It is a compilation of their own or third party stories that help to understand the feelings of someone who loses his home and who suddenly finds himself in a position of maximum vulnerability.
“There is a fine and almost invisible line between being in the comfort of our home and being in the heat, almost suddenly, to be on the street with the chill of invisibility”, explains director Felix Martin.
