Spain is about to lose a new battery factory to India’s Tata Motors in this case
The automotive sector is in full swing, facing a lot of changes in a short span of time, due to which many manufacturers have to renovate their factories and even build new factories.
In recent months, battery factories for electric cars have been one of the main focuses of automotive brands, and that is, the control of one of the key elements of electric cars is crucial.
A few months back we told you about Tata Motors, owner of Jaguar Land Rover among other brands, actively looking for a location to build its next big battery factory. Spain seemed to be in a very good position, especially because of the good proposed location of Zuera (Zaragoza), although the United Kingdom was also bidding for it.
Latest inside information suggests that Tata is closer to choosing the United Kingdom as a location than Spain. This, as indicated, is due to the significant aid given by the British government, something that Spain appears to have been unable to match or achieve.
It is true that no decision has yet been taken by Tata Motors, there has been no official statement on the matter, so Spain may have one last chance to acquire the Jaguar Land Rover battery factory, and that is because Spain has one important advantage, and that is that it belongs to the European Union, something that the United Kingdom did not after its separation a few years ago via Brexit.
Let’s hope that Spain can finally catch up, because it will be very important to maintain the automobile fabric in this sector, a fabric that has been diminished in recent years and now has a new opportunity to reevaluate itself.
